I actually recommend setting it to 58, not 60, as setting to 60 may still spike above 60FPS. I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to respond to explain that this fixes more than just the freeze after combat bug. However, if turning V Sync ON doesn't fix the issue, you'll have to navigate to your graphics card control panel and manually set your FPS to 60 for Knights of the Old Republic. Turning "V Sync" ON in the Options menu will cap your frame rate at 60. You can easily fix this bug by limiting (capping) your FPS at 60. Player character usually freezes after combat if you have a very high frame rate while in game.
